Cognitive Distortions
For two soprano voices,
one male spoken voice, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, piano and percussion
A multi-movement quasi-theatrical work - with text
by yours truly - that follows a young woman who has entered a vocal competition
and is experiencing "cognitive distortions" - different ways of
distorting reality and making things more significant than they really
are. As she expresses her thoughts during each stage of the process,
another voice suggests a different way of viewing the situation and a
psychologist provides analysis and explanation.
